Proposals for an Eco-town at Elsenham

Responding to the Government’s announcement of 15 potential locations for new Eco-towns, including a minimum of 5,000 homes north east of Elsenham, Stop Stansted Expansion’s Campaign Director Carol Barbone said:

“No-one should be surprised by this announcement. If the Government wants to see an airport bigger than Heathrow at Stansted then developers will inevitably hover like vultures over communities in its vicinity. This is only the start of what would happen if a second runway were ever to be approved at Stansted. Stop Stansted Expansion’s focus is therefore on tackling the second runway application for Stansted as the root cause as a means of overturning plans for the ‘symptoms’ of proposed development at Elsenham and elsewhere.”
