Beatlemania at Stop Stansted Expansion Music Festival

SSE sign up the Upbeat Beatles for ‘Summer Breeze’ concert on Sunday 20 July

The Upbeat Beatles, widely hailed as the best Beatles tribute band currently on the UK circuit, have been signed up by Stop Stansted Expansion (SSE) for its mega summer picnic concert at Little Easton Manor on Sunday 20 July. They will join the English Chamber Orchestra and Kenny Ball and His Jazzmen to bring a blend of classical, jazz and pop rock music to the 2,500-strong audience expected on the day.

In recognition of the coup in persuading the Upbeat Beatles to join the Summer Breeze concert, the English Chamber Orchestra have promised some ‘Eine Kleine Beatles Musik’ in addition to their more traditional classic repertoire.

“It’s really all coming together brilliantly,” said Peter Gowan, Deputy Chairman of SSE. “The whole idea of Summer Breeze is that this is not a day for speeches, banners or campaigning, it is simply about providing great music and a great day out.”

The Observer bus will be there to liven up proceedings between performances with a foretaste of the music to come and with some light hearted competitions to test everyone’s musical knowledge.

The concert starts at 2.00 pm and is expected to end at about 6.30 pm. It will be followed by an after show party until 9.00 pm – with more music, champagne, light buffet, a fun casino, an auction and pehaps a chance to meet the stars. Only 250 tickets are available for the After Show Champagne Party.

People can bring their own picnic, opt for the food and refeshments which will be available on site or pre-book a picnic buffet in the main marquee.

For tickets and more information about the concert telephone SSE on 01279 870558 or the credit card Summer Breeze ticket hotline on 01279 815464.
